About Angeles

"Candelas" is the Spanish word for candles, and "Angeles" is my middle name. That’s why CANDELAS by Angeles.

It all started a few years ago, when my daughter suggested we make our own candles at home — and I absolutely loved the idea.

After hundreds (many hundreds) of mistakes, I slowly learned the do’s and don’ts of candle making. I then began searching for original, decorative containers that felt truly special.

After a long search, I found what felt like the perfect combination: alluring scented candles housed in beautifully handcrafted terracotta vessels, where any slight imperfection only adds to their unique beauty. The final touch was hand-painting them — and that’s how my Collections came to life.

Now, testing fragrances, painting terracotta vessels, and pouring candles have become labors of love — all in the service of creating something that pampers your senses and adds a unique, heartfelt touch of art to your space. Take a look around, you'll like what you see.

About Terracotta

The name "Terracotta" comes from the Italian word for "baked earth". I love Terracotta for its rustic charm and simple elegance. These pieces bring a touch of nature indoors, and their timeless appeal complements both traditional and contemporary settings. I source most of these earthy vessels from a pottery town in El Salvador, where a group of young artisans is passionate about continuing the tradition of crafting clay. I create the designs, and they shape my vision into reality.

Terracotta vessels and their eco-friendly nature strike a perfect balance between the traditional and the modern, the rough and the refined, while also contributing to environmental sustainability. You may keep using your terracotta vessel as a decor piece once your candle is finished.

Get the most out of your candles

Candle Care

The best way to light your wood wick candle is to hold it upright and tilt it at an angle. Draw the flame across the length of the wick. It’s better to use a lighter.

It might take a few tries to get the wick lit—be patient, as wood wicks can be tricky. Once you’ve successfully lit it once, it should be easier the next time.

Allow the entire surface of the wax to melt during each burn session to prevent tunneling.

Before re-lighting your candle, remember to clean off the charred bits from the wood wick, as burnt wood won’t light. You can pinch off the burned edges with your fingers once it has cooled, and remove any debris.

When your candle resets after a burn, the surface may be rough and cratered. This is normal and an indication that the wax is all-natural, with no additives.

WARNINGS:

• Never leave a burning candle unattended.

• Always burn candles on a flat, stable surface.

• Do not touch the vessel when the candle is lit. It may be hot.

• Keep candles out of reach of children and pets.

• Keep candles away from flammable objects.

• Do not burn a candle for more than 4 hours at a time.

Can I personalize an order for a special event?

Yes! If you need a special combination of fragrance, vessel, color, logo, name, or date for your event, please feel free to send me an email with the details, and I'll be happy to provide you with a quote.

Can I send my order as a gift?

Yes, my Terracotta Candle Collections make a very special gift! Each order comes gift-wrapped with a lovely ribbon bow on the packaging box, and includes a handwritten note with your cherished message.

Do you use eco-friendly materials?

Yes. My candles are made with natural plant-based soy-coconut wax (no paraffin) and natural wooden wicks, as well as a blend of fine fragrance oils, phthalates and parabens-free. The vessels are made of natural clay and painted with water-based paint. Even the packaging is eco-friendly, made with kraft paper.

Why do your candles differ from the depicted picture?

Each terracotta vessel is individually handcrafted and hand painted, so the final product may vary slightly from the photos, even if the same technique and colors are used. No two pieces are identical, and their subtle imperfections only enhance their inherent charm.

Can your vessels be reused?

Yes! My vessels can continue to serve as a decor accent in your home after your candle is completely burned. Just clean off the remaining wax.

Can I track my order?

Yes, as soon as your order is on its way, you'll receive a tracking number.

What if my package is lost or stolen?

If there is any trouble with your order, please send me an email.

Can I change or cancel my order?

You can make changes or cancel your order within 12 hours of placing it. For custom-made orders, I cannot accept changes or cancellations once your order is placed. Thank you for understanding.

What is your return policy?

Due to the nature of my product, I cannot accept returns or exchanges. If your vessel is broken or the candle is melted (due to summer heat) during transit, please take pictures of the item and packaging within 2 days of receiving it, and send me a message. We’ll figure it out together.

Do you offer international shipping?

I currently ship only within the contiguous United States.
